Saginaw is the last town on the west bank of the Susquehanna. Getting here is pretty easy. From York Haven, follow Wago Road south past the Brunner Island Power Plant. The road will make a sharp right and you'll immediately see two underpasses. The first one is the Port Road, the second one is the York Secondary. If you're chasing a train on the York Secondary, you can go straight here and follow the tracks to Mount Wolf. To stay along the Port Road you need to turn left right before the Port Road underpass. I'm not really sure of the name of this road, and some maps don't show it. It's not paved, but it's a fairly straight and level road. Just be careful, there are some mean bumps on this road and you definitely don't want to hit them at any great speed. Along this road you'll pass the 496/497 signals (you'll see steps up the embankment). If you like steep climbs, you can park along the road and walk up to the tracks. There's a rock formation south of the signals that looks like it provides a decent elevated view. Continuing south you'll eventually make a right and go back under the tracks and come up to the town of Saginaw. Make a left, and continue south. This is 2nd Street, which will eventually turn into Riverview Drive. This road is squeezed between and Port Road and the hillside, and provides an unobstructed view for a bout 3/4 of a mile. There isn't a whole lot of room to pull off, and if you do, I wouldn't hang around for a long while. You will pass right by the 476/477 signals and the 47.6 dragging detector. The safer pull-off is on the left hand side right before the road make a sharp right. This location is right at the curve which eventually leads onto the Shock's Mill Bridge.
You can also access the west side of the Shocks Mill Bridge from this area as well. Continue south on Riverview Drive until to come to a "T". Make a left, cross the Codorus Creek, then make a left again. Follow this road up to the gate and park. There is a bit of a walk ahead. Walking along the creek, you'll come to the stone arch bridge over the creek. It's a neat bridge, however it's a bit difficult to photograph due to being almost completely grown in. Walk under the bridge, then roughly follow the tracks to the riverbank. If the river is low enough, you may be able to walk out on some rocks and explore some different views.
