12N CROSSES THE CONWINGO CREEK BRIDGE (PIC ABOVE)  1:26 - 4.99MB

The tiny town of Pilot lies just north of Conowingo, and while it doesn't provide much in the way of access to the tracks, it does have one very good photo spot.  To get to this location, turn right onto Oakwood Road from Route 222 south.  At the next intersection the road name changes to Old Conowingo Road.  Follow this all the way down until you see the inlet to the river.   This road actually forks before you get to the river, but both roads go to the same spot, so it doesn't matter which way you go.  Turn in at the boat ramp.  This spot is listed for sale, but it is still public access.  You will notice that there is a nice view of the concrete-arch bridge over the inlet.  This shot is lit well in the mornings, and can be used for shots of east or westbounds.  CP PILOT sits right on the bridge (note the signals) and is the end of Pilot siding, which continues west to CP WEST PILOT.  You may also notice the through-truss bridge at the east end of the inlet.  This carries Bell Manor road over the inlet.  This bridge, built in 1902, is now closed to vehicle traffic (for repairs I assume), but you could shoot across the inlet from it.
There used to be another location to view the action in Pilot.  This spot was formerly the location of Pilot Station (back when every town had a railroad station!!).  It was at the end of Bald Friar road.  If the truss bridge was open, you would follow Bell Manor Road to the next interesection, and turn left onto Pilot Town Road, and then left again onto Bald Friar Road.  The road in now gated shut part way down(after a couple of houses), and NS has placed "No Trespassing" signs on the gate.  The road looks terrible behind the gate, so you probably wouln't want to drive down it anyway.
