2/21/10 - Another day of interesting Sunday action. This time the special move was an H91 (H91 is an extra Lancaster local crew). The train ran from Lancaster up to Marietta to work the Marietta Industrial, which rarely sees weekend activity. The train left Marietta with two empties. The train then headed up the Royalton Branch to pick up a high and wide load at ROY interlocking. The car was picked up off a stub end track referred to as ROY yard. The load was taken back to Lancaster in the afternoon. Also of note was a late running 631 coal train which passed COLA at 12:41PM (1st pic). Second pic is H91 just east of ROY and the 3rd pic is the H91 at Bainbridge.

2/14/10 - An interesting load made its way up the Port Road this morning. The load, covered in an "Alstom" tarp, was carried on train 052, whihc featured 4 locomotives but only 3 cars. The pics below are from the Blue Rock Road crossing near Washington Boro.

2/10/10 - Another major storm this week pretty much had the same affect on the Port Road. Most trains were cancelled.
2/8/10 - A major winter storm played havoc on the Port Road and most other lines in the mid-atlantic this past weekend. The 510 coal train to Spring Grove ran a day early in anticipation of the snow. Very little radio activity was heard over the weekend. Many train were likely annulled. The Columbia Secondary didn't open untill Monday evening, when the H18 finally ran after taking off Friday and Saturday. Also, 24M made an afternoon run on Sunday, leaving Harrisburg around 2PM.
1/24/10 - The Columbia and Reading Railroad made its first run this past Wednesday. The railroad is using a bright red Alco S2 for power, which was delivered and painted last November. The "Tracks out of service" signs at the Route 462 grade crossing were removed a little over a week ago. The short branch line runs from the NS Columbia Secondary to a scrap dealer in Columbia. The line in ex-Reading
1/23/10 - The second 62A of the year ran this evening. The 1st one ran 2 weeks ago. The train was a bit shorter than usual, and featured a Conrail SD60M leading. The train passed COLA at 7:19PM
12/6/09 - Another set of Position-Light signals appear ready for replacement. A new signal mast has been installed at HOLTWOOD near the existing signals. Also of note, a major construction project at the Holtwood Hydroelectric Plant is about to start. New gates and flashers have been installed at the power plant entrance, presumably because of the increase in construction traffic. The crossing formerly was protected by crossbucks.
