Port Road News
8/29/10 - 36A late twice this weekend!  Saturday's train passed COLA at 8:50AM (pictured below) while Sunday's train passed around 8.  There was also a 28Z around lunchtime on Sunday).

8/27/10 - The NS OCS (Office Car Special) ran east down the Port Road this evening, headed to Baltimore.  The train featured all 4 of NS's F units for power.  Train is to return west on Wednesday morning (9/1).
6/27/10 - One of the busiest days in recent memory occurred today with a whopping 7 trains making an appearance after 9AM.  24M, 23W, 37A, 33A, 13G, 591, and 630 all passed COLA between 9:45AM and 6PM.  A high (and hot!) sun made pictures difficult but the 24M and 630 were captured fairly well.  The 630 featured 2 SD80MACs, seen at Washington Boro.

6/21/10 - This past weekend was filled with some daylight action.  Saturday featured two late westbound coal trains (591 and 595) and a fairly early (6PM or so) 630 eastbound coal train.  Sunday's surprise was a late 24M and and a 631 which passed COLA around 2PM. Below is the pic of 24M at the south end of Washington Boro.

6/12/10 - Catenary poles were taken down this week along the Columbia Secondary.  The poles were cut off at the base and removed.  A few were spared because of proximity to PPL electric lines.  The removal stopped at EY, which is just east of COLA.  It's pretty clear now that the signs of the old PRR electric system are on borrowed time.  At some point they will probably clear the poles between CRES and PERRY,as well as SHOCKS to STELL. The lines between Washington Boro and SHOCKS are still used to carry power to Amtrak at ROY, so those larger supports will remain (for now).
