Marietta is located just north of Columbia on route 441. The railroad itself runs along Front Street. There is a set of signals in town (L415/L416) as well as two defect detectors, one of which is brand new. The new one is located at the west (north) end of Front Street, and was put into service in the fall of 2006. The other detector is located a few miles west at milepost EP44.1. There is plenty of accessible track through town, with four small grade crossings in town (some of which are marked "private"). Unfortunately, a line of trees separate the railroad right-of-way from Front Street, so photo angles are pretty tight. Also on front street is the Railroad House Inn, a restored bed & breakfast that used to be a hotel for canal and railroad workers.
